I’m so glad 2015 is over.
It wasn’t a bad year, it was just time for something new. And, boy, do we have “new” covered. 2016 is our year. We’re going big. Why? Because you can either go big, as the saying goes, or go home. And we’re definitely not ready to go home (unless there’s hot chocolate, Star Wars, and cuddly animals involved).
We’re all here in the business world to make money, right? So what makes you stand out? Why should Nancy, the customer, call you instead of Average Joe’s? There needs to be something substantial, and if it doesn’t exist yet, well then 2016 is your year to create it. It’s time to step up and find that one thing that will throw your business over the top- from “we’re doing pretty well” to “WE’RE ON FIRE!!!”
A friend was telling me about his journey to being a successful consultant. I asked him “how did you create something you knew someone would want?” He responded with the most important piece of advice I think I’ve ever heard. “I just asked myself over and over what do I wish someone had done for me and my team?” Wow. I don’t know about you, but that really struck me on a deeper level than anything else I’ve heard or read lately.
That said, I’d like to tell you what we’re doing to stand out, to make your job easier, to create for you what I wish had been around years ago.
Online Employee Compliance Training
Each business that wants to become a Certified Drug Free Workplace recognized by the state is required to complete 2 hours of employee and supervisor education training each year. That doesn’t sound like much, but when you consider doing it yourself, it can get overwhelming. Oh, you have choices.
- You can pay someone to come in and train your people for you. They’ll present a comprehensive slide show with interesting factoids and processes that occur as a result of your DFW implementation. But that also involves getting the whole company in one place for two+ whole hours during which nothing- NOTHING- is getting done. That doesn’t even include actually paying the person to stand there and train- And let’s not forget to mention the bored, glazed look that passes over your employees as soon as the Dunkin’ Donuts are gone.
- You can print out Drug Free Workplace training newsletters that take about 10 minutes each to read, letting each employee train themselves on their own time. The question is, how can you prove that your staff has read the “mandatory” training articles? You can’t. And although we try to make those articles as interesting as possible, some people haven’t read anything since high school, much less a book or anything related to work on their personal time.
But we’re taking workplace training requirements one step further. This year, we’re working on an Online training course that you can use to train your staff. With a lot of hard work, and a little help from lady luck, we’re creating a course that will enable you to have all the control. YOU set the completion deadline for your staff to go through the material. YOU get assurance that every single staff member completes their required training.
